Double Page Deconstruction of Cosmopolitan

Cosmopolitan - real life story

Looking at the layout of Cosmopolitans article, "I went undercover in war-torn Syria" we can see that it is presented so that the photo's are seperate from the text. This creates a formal and serious approach to the information provided as it shows that the person writing the article wants to focus on the information and get the photo's out of the way, just as pure interest.
The colours of the article are kept consistent throughout, which conveys the meaning that it is a down to earth article about a topic that cannot be joked around with.
Using the category title on the top of the photographic page, initially grabs the readers attention, as within the fashion and gossip pages there is someone writing their own perspective on something that has affected them as well as others around them. A personal response to a dangerous and jaw gripping adventure, shows that the magazine thinks of other issues that are usually stereotypically not thought of within a magazine such as this.
The lady who wrote the article called Yaara, writes about her families thoughts and how it connected to her job and wanting to go back to her country. So she made connections to tell a story, which felt heartfelt.
